LEARN THE ART OF BICYCLE MAINTENANCE

Bicycle Garage Indy bicycle maintenance classes teach you the skills that you need to service and repair all of the essential moving parts on your bike before a ride and on the go. Each session includes 90 minutes of hands-on learning under the guidance of our professionally trained mechanics.

Our Bicycle Maintenance 101 classes are ideal for riders who would like to learn basic care for their bicycle. More experienced riders will benefit from our five 200 Level classes, during which you’ll learn to clean, adjust, lubricate, and install the components and parts necessary to keep your bike rolling smoothly for years to come.

101: BICYCLE MAINTENANCE CLASS #1

Perfect for new cyclists! Topics Covered will include basic bicycle terminology, wheel removal, flat repair, and chain lubrication. Time is also allowed for a question and answer period.

102: BICYCLE MAINTENANCE CLASS #2

Register Now

Perfect for new cyclists! Topics Covered will include Bike assembly: how to put the bike back together from being shipped. Install bars, install seatpost, install wheels. Check chain lube, check shifting, check derailleur hanger. Check overall bike for damage. Go over tools need to put bike back together. Time is also allowed for a question and answer period.

201: CHAIN AND DERAILLEUR SYSTEMS CLASS

Topics covered will include chain sizing, master links, rivet install, chain installation, chain wear and damage, cleaning and lubrication, cable system/cutting/sizing, proper derailleur installation, limit screw adjustment, b limit screw adjustment, and index adjustment. Time is also allowed for a question and answer period.

202: HUBS AND CASSETTE CLASS

Topics covered will include bearing adjustment, freehub service, cartridge bearing hubs, Cassette and freewheel installation and removal. Time is also allowed for a question and answer period

203: WHEEL TRUING CLASS

Topics covered will include parts identification, truing procedure, lateral and radial truing, dish, tension, replacing damaged spoke, and wheel wear and damage. Time is also allowed for a question and answer period.

204: HEADSET, BB AND CRANKS CLASS

Topics covered will include component identification, different types of bottom brackets and headsets, adjustment procedures, installing/removing pedals, chainring BCD ID, and installing/removing cranks. Time is also allowed for a question and answer period.

205: BRAKE SYSTEMS (MECHANICAL)

Topics covered will include component identification, different types of brakes, cable system inspection and replacement/lubrication, sizing housing, pad inspection & replacement, adjustment. Will also cover handlebars, stems, saddle and seat posts, if time permits.

All our classes are based on the Park Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair, the industry standard for bicycle maintenance. No matter what your DIY (Do It Yourself) comfort level, this is a handy reference if you are taking a class with us or practicing your skills at home.

Along with our Bicycle Maintenance Classes, Bicycle Garage Indy offers One-on-One TechWise instructions. If you want the flexibility of personalized, hands-on mechanical training, One-on-One TechWise sessions are based on your needs and your schedule.
